The Team - Claudio Sillero

Executive Director and Founder

Professor Claudio Sillero has directed EWCP since its foundation in 1995, prior to which he studied the behavioural ecology of Ethiopian wolves in the field. A conservation biologist and keen naturalist from the Argentine Pampas, Claudio is interested in threatened species, disease dynamics, protected area management and human-wildlife coexistence, particularly relating to wild canids (wolves, jackals, dogs and foxes).

With decades of experience in conservation, he is chair of the IUCN Canid Specialist Group, advisor to the Born Free Foundation, and Deputy Director of the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit and Bill Travers Fellow for Wildlife Conservation at the University of Oxford.
